FDA releases proposed e-cigarette regulations

See on Scoop.itElectronic Cigarette Health

The Food and Drug Administration is making another attempt at regulating electronic cigarettes and other tobacco products.

Sam J. Macek‘s insight:

This is pretty good news! Pretty much just going to have to slap a sticker on them, ID minors, disclose ingredients and no free samples. At least not getting banned

Can e-cigarettes help you stop smoking? Find out if e-cigarettes can help you stop smoking in this article from Discovery Health.

Sam J. Macek‘s insight:

there’s a lot of controversy in this article on tobacco. Basically saying smokers should hold off on trying electronic cigarettes until there’s more evidence that these devices are safe.. Tell that to the person who’s tried every drug, patch and gum and is nearly dead from tobacco. They need to stop now and while e-cigs can’t be marketed as quit smoking devices. That’s exactly what they are and they have 10x the success rate of any product on the market. End of story. Whether you use it quit smoking and nicotine completely or just to replace it is up to you.

Tyler Morning Telegraph - Use of e-cigarettes banned in, around Smith County offices, facilities

Smith County commissioners this morning unanimously agreed to ban the use of electronic cigarette…

Sam J. Macek‘s insight:

ignorance is about lack of education. This is the perfect example of how people just don’t know that vapor from electronic cigarettes can’t harm those around you. I understand it can be annoying and some people may have gluten allergies and PG juice has been known to affect those with gluten allergies. However, the amount of vapor to do such a thing would have to be an entire room full of vapor and it’s just not going to happen. Here’s a post on the effects of PG/VG that might help educate those less educated!

Out of respect to others you shouldn’t be vaping in certain places. Ie. I wont do it in restaurants and airports etc. The hassle of being accused of smoking cigarettes etc is just not worth it. I just do it in the bathroom :)

The UK is so quick to ban electronic cigarettes. I guess I understand that using them in such council buildings is a concern. If everyone in there was vaping, it would be very annoying even if they have no second hand health concerns.

For musician and music teacher Mark McCarthy, 27, e-cigarettes seemed like a good alternative to the real thing.

Sam J. Macek‘s insight:

Another typical news story saying that electronic cigarettes can be harmful to your health. While this is an ongoing debate, the fact is if you are failing to quit tobacco your risks are minimal with e-cigarettes . Are they completely safe? there’s not enough data to make claims. So the best thing to do is make sure you are using a reputable company such as Halo who discloses everything they put inside their products and nothing is imported from China.

The heath problems that Mark McCarthy had and eliminated is more than enough evidence that e-cigs are not contributing to his health problems and in fact reversed his problems.

Halo G6 versus V2 Cigs - Who"s really Better?

Ok this review is intended for new E-cigarette users looking to upgrade from store bought disposables or cheap brands found in Wal-marts etc and wanting to invest into a more legit product with higher quality rather than just trying to kick the tobacco habit but actually wanting to enjoy the vaping experience. This is a really good comparison among the most popular E-cig and in my pinon the best E-cig.

You may have stopped smoking with e-cigarettes and you maybe asking yourself is this it? I’m not really getting my money worth nor an I satisfied anymore. You may have bought every type of brand you can find at the deli or gas station and want more…

That’s how I used to feel back 2 years ago when I quit smoking and I needed something more something better. I wanted to keep vaping on a daily basis because I enjoyed it. It relaxes me, gives me something to do when I’m bored rather than stuffing my face with food etc.

So you might start doing research.. typing in Google stuff like “electronic cigarette brands” etc and it’s hard to miss V2 cigs. They are everywhere and rated very high in all these review type websites.

v2 cigs review

So I tried them myself, I ordered the cheapest kit, the express kit plus a sampler pack of all their different flavors. Luckily I used a 10% off coupon, from a previous review here on NCPTSD and was able to get my kit for cheap when combined with the 15% off store-wide sale also. So not a bad deal and I also received my package not even 3 days later.

If you’ve ever ordered an e-cig before online you may be familiar with the same anticipation and excitement when you get your order in the mail. You tear open the bubble wrap and open up the nicely presented box flip through the instructions basically ignoring them and quickly pull out the cartomizers and screw them on to the battery.

I took my first few vapes, and man I’m in heaven such huge puffs of vapor coming out of my mouth, a huge step up from that gas station crap. However after 10 minutes it started to fade on me, so try another cartomizer and it’s great for a couple of hours then it starts losing it’s flavor and then it’s pretty much dead. I went though 12 cartomizers in a week and I’m pretty much done my package.

The flavors are ok but fall short of amazing. I did enjoy the Red, Mint tea, and I’m a big coffee fan. Some of the flavors just nasty like the Sahara I really hated and would only use it if I’m desperate.

So here’s my overview of V2

1. Price – Really good if you buy the express kit or starter kit and find a coupon or when they have store wide sales.

2. Battery – The batteries are good quality but get the manual so you don’t have to prime puff it. They will accept any KR808D-1 Cartomizer which includes the Halo G6 which is coming up next.

3. Cartomizers – This is where I felt V2 let me down. I’m so disappointed in the flavors, except for the coffee and Red which you can get the juice and use it in other devices, but as far as cartomizers they really taste nasty when they are close to being empty and I actually had one that was defective from the start.

4. Customer service – I dealt with customer service once because I was a bit upset how the flavors lasted inconsistently and this was due to their sampler pack. Apparently they are filled differently than the regular ones. They only really tried to sell me more product instead of trying to rectify the problem. I would have gladly taken a free pack of Coffee again but it was never offered.

Overall: V2 batteries are probably the best thing they have going for them for having a high voltage on such a a mini device. I really don’t like their flavors as a whole because the vape dies off so quickly and so does the throat hit, flavor and you go through too many cartomizers.

Moving on to Halo G6 Review

halo ecigs review

I’ve read about Halo on-line and while they aren’t at the top of all these review charts I find a lot of good talk about them in small forums and from others using them. They just don’t pay their affiliates as much as V2 does so other review sites (not us) rank them lower than V2. However, they are the superior product in every way.

Their e-liquids are all produced in the USA so this immediately lowers my concerns of breathing in chemicals from some made in China brands, I’m sure China is great but their air quality etc is nothing like it is here. So moving on I bought the Halo G6 and let me tell you about it.

So after being disappointed with V2 it was a breath of fresh air having Halo delivered to my door and I quickly unwrapped it. It came with two 78mm batteries, a wall charger, USB charger and a couple of blank cartomizers as well as a 5 pack of pre-filled flavored cartomizers. I also got a pack of their sampler Tobacco pack.of e-juice which had 6 of their best selling such as Torque56, Turkish Tobacco, Midnight Apple, Prime15, Longhorn and Tribeca E-liquids.

Immediately I noticed the quality of the Halo G6, it looks awesome. The kit comes in a great looking tin, yet rugged packaging. The batteries are rubberized coating finish so they don’t slip or get easily damaged if you drop them or leave them in your pocket with lose change like I do. Also the sealed cases that the cartomizers come in are great for not leaking in your pocket or get dinged up.

The best advantage of advantage of going with Halo is their cartomizers are refillable unlike V2 and so now I basically have one I keep for testing new flavors and the others I keep refilling with the same e-liquids I like the best such as Torque 56 and Tribeca which became my two favorite very quickly.

Also that burnt taste I was getting with V2… non-existent with Halo.

The flavors Halo produces are the best I’ve ever had, even if I didn’t use the G6 I would still buy the flavors from them. V2 can well.. gave them to the wife to use hah. :)

Halo G6 Overview

1. Pricing – It was $80 to get started with my starter kit but it came with 12 cartomizers and 42 ml’ s of e-juice. It’s well worth the price and it’s still cheaper than going with a comparable V2 kit.

2. Battery – Best in the business. I have one automatic and one manual. I prefer the manual as you can get a heavier vape off it and you don’t need to prime puff it to get the vacuum going. They also perform steady from start to finish not the typical dying off like I experience with other brands.

3. Charging – You charge for 8 hours before using even though you can use it a bit they don’t come fully drained. They charge like any other KR808D-1 and you can use your V2 batteries if you still have them.

4. Cartomizers – Here’s where Halo gets set apart from the competition, They are designed to last and be refilled. They also hold more than V2 (i’m guessing V2 makes a lot of money off reordering Cartomizers from them). Not the case here because I can put whatever I want in them and I know exactly how much I’m using. They deliver awesome throat hit, you can really extract the flavor when inhaling and it remains consistent from start to the last drop.

5. Flavors – They have such an amazing line of premium flavors and they can sit on your self for quite some time and they still taste exactly the same as when you first opened it. Unlike V2 cartomizers where if you leave them open they dry out. I love Tribeca, Torque 56, HX3 and Prime-15 but wasn’t in love with Captain Jack or Midnight Apple but that’s my personal taste buds.

6. Customer service – I had a momentary issue with a battery and they offered to replace it and even pay for the shipping. I didn’t have to do it because It was just some ejuice on the connection that wasn’t letting it charge. All good now, but it’s great to know they support their products very well.

Overall

Halo is the best cigarette looking type e-cig on the market today. I hope I talked you out of using V2 or any other brand like Green Smoke who’s prices are just ridiculous . The claimed “Infiniglow, flameguard and thermoflow” tech is extremely noticeable and their flavors are just amazing and anyone you talked to who uses them will confirm this with me.

I’d appreciate any feed back or comments below and if you enjoyed this please hit the like buttons! I’m working on getting a coupon for Halo so stay tuned!

Atomic RDA By MCV

The Atomic RDA by MCV is a nearly entirely rebuildable dripping atomizer, giving you some amazing options for your mods. It’s considered to be a combination of the best features of the Trident and the Helios RDAs which are considered to be some of the best around. It has many amazing features and you don’t even have the price tag as a consideration! So what makes this RDA worth a purchase?

Atomic RDA-2What the Atomic RDA Offers

The Atomic RDA, purchased through Be Vape Happy, is a completely rebuilding dripping atomizer. It has both single and duel coil capabilities and it is compatible with many mechanical mods and variable volt/variable wattage vaporizers. It is nineteen millimeters wide and made with stainless steel.

What makes it so great for people who love to build their mods from the ground up is the fact that you have many options. You have to six airflow options: 1.5mm, 2mm and 3mm and you can have duel air holes or one, depending on your preferences. You can use a lower gauge wire without crushing anything: 24-28 gauge wire as opposed to other RDAs which usually go no lower than about 30 gauge wire. This means you can build lower resistance devices and furthermore, means you get amazing vapor and flavor. Airflow adjustment is pretty easy to do. Unscrew the cap, remove the sleeve and then adjust your airflow. Use the sleeve to determine whether you want single or dual air holes, pop the top cap back on and you’re done.

Other nice little design elements: the single O-ring is nice and fat so things screw on and stick properly, the stainless steel design is attractive and the deck is smaller, allowing for smaller gauge wiring.

Benefits of the Atomic RDA

Atomic RDA-3We’ve already gone over many of the benefits: compatibility, six airflow options, duel or single air holes and the ability to use a variety of coils. Other benefits include:

  • Fantastic flavor! You’ll get nuances and accents that you never tasted before

  • Very strong and dense vapor is produced from the device

  • Fully rebuildable

  • Can go as low as 24 gauge wires without anything getting crushed.

  • Price tag: $90.00! This is cheaper than the Helios or the Trident, but has none of the few issues with them.

However, do keep in mind that you need to know how to build your coils in order to make the most of this device, so it’s best used by people with experience in creating RDA builds.

The Atomic RDA by MCV is an amazing rebuilding dripping atomizer. You get strong and flavorful vapor, up to six air holes and the ability to use lower gauge wires. And at $90.00, the price is certainly right! So pre-order it today and enjoy.

Aspire Nautilus Clearomizer Is it as good as they claim?

The Aspire Nautilus Clearomizer is one of a few clearomizers put out by Nautilus and arguably one of the best for newcomers to mechanical mod vaping. While it does have some problems that may make it less appealing for veterans and people who enjoy rebuilding every last little bit of their mod, its pros outweigh the cons and newcomers will probably feel very comfortable with this device. So what is the Aspire Nautilus actually like?

What You Get In your Aspire Nautilus

Aspire Nautilus Clearomizer-1The Aspire nautilus is a clearomizer tank; a device which contains your e-liquid as well as having a drip tip. It has a unique appearance as it has a bell shape and a glass tank and it’s one of the largest tanks around (for a stock coil) at 5mL. The device comes with the tank and two coil heads: 1.6 Ohms and 1.8. It al comes with a detachable drip tip so that you can change up which kind you want. The device also has a silicon ring which squeeze fits your device together, though you do need the coil head to make sure everything stays together. This particularly device is a 22mm device so it looks very nice on other 22mm devices to build your entire mod. It even fits on variable voltage and wattage devices!

Benefits of the Aspire Nautilus

Aspire Nautilus Clearomizer-2The Aspire Nautilus is, overall, very well built. First, it’s one of the only clearomizer out there with adjustable airflow and it’s very easy to use. All you have to do is twist the airflow ring and you can shift from tiny (.9mm) to small (1.1mm) to medium (1.4mm) to large (1.8mm) and furthermore, the ring ‘locks’ into place so you don’t have to worry about slippage. The efficient and easy way to adjust airflow means there is minimal gurgling or flooding and if you have pressure build-up from vaping at a tiny airflow, you simply move to a large airflow and let the pressure out.

The Nautilus is also relatively easy to pull apart and put back together, making it perfect for people just breaking into mechanical mods. It uses a silicon press lip to press fit into the glass tank and the drip tip and coil heads can be pulled out easily. It’s got a very nice appearance as the tank is glass and the rest is stainless steel (save for the lip) and it matches well with other devices.

Finally, the tank is fairly large with a 5mL capacity and no leakages! So you can vape for quite a while before needing to fill the tank. The vaping experience is consistent and of a high quality and you can get good flavor.

Problems with the Nautilus

As wonderful as it is for newcomers, it has problems. A big problem is the fact that you can’t take apart the coil head, so you can’t rebuild it. This will probably annoy any veterans who enjoy pulling every last piece apart and fiddling at will. Another thing is that you cannot vape over 10.5 watts. You get a great experience at 10 watts, but if you like vaping higher than that, you just cannot do it. The glass tank is reinforced with threading on the inside, so it’s not as fragile as it could be, but it’s still pretty breakable, so be careful not to sit on it or throw it around too much! This means it’s not much good for people who work a rough job, work outside or who are just careless or clumsy with their things. And finally, the price tag at $39.99 may seem a bit too much for something which is, at the bottom, mass-produced out of China.

Aspire Nautilus Clearomizer-3The Aspire Nautilus is a very good device. It has a unique appearance, consistent vaping and more importantly, adjustable airflow which is something most clearomizers simply don’t have. The fact that it cannot be completely pulled apart may be off-putting to veterans, but for people who are new to vaping, it may be just perfect. You can switch between a 1.6ohm and 1.8ohm coil head and you can switch out the drip tip and the device fits on all 22mm mechanical mods, including variable voltage and wattage devices, so you get quite a bit of choice, but for those who like to be able to change every last little thing, it may not be ideal. The other thing that you may want to keep in mind is that you may need to keep buying coil heads. Otherwise, this is a great device for newcomers or for people who don’t feel the need to fiddle too much and well worth trying. Enjoy!

** Update I ‘ve been using my nautilius for 2 weeks now and it always stops wicking and gives me burnt taste… I have to prime it like crazy then it goes for awhile then boom dry hits again **  So until they send me a new one. Maybe mine is defective? not sure yet but I ‘m really dissapointed in how it’s turned out. Since so many people love this tank

EGo-C Twist Battery Revolutionary?

EGo-C Twist-1The eGo-C Twist battery from Joyetech is one of the more solid batteries out there for electronic cigarette users. It gives you variable voltages that are easy to adjust, an easy to use device and the ability to screw onto various devices to create your vaping experience. The eGo-C Twist is a variation on the eGo-C original battery with some new things to make it easier to use and though it’s now an older device, it’s aged very well! So what can you expect from this battery?

The eGo-C Twist is named such because you twist the bottom of the battery to adjust its voltage. It can be adjusted in increments of .2 from 2.3V to 4.8V. It’s very easy to use; simply spin to the right to increase the voltage and spin to the left to decrease it. The battery holds its load very well, though it works best with single coil, 3.0 ohm devices, able to keep a load perfectly and even up the charge a tiny bit.

The device is easy to fire up; simply press the firing button five times and it will light up to let you know that it’s on. Press it five times to turn it off. The light blinks and then it’s turned off. This helps to prevent accidental discharge while still being convenient to use.

EGo-C Twist-2

The battery can be charged via a USB charger which you can plug into you computer. Keep in mind that it’s best used with an Inferno USB charger which is the same brand as the battery; older eGo battery chargers don’t seem to work very well. The device has a battery light which turns red when it’s charging and green when it’s finished. It has a good life too; about 5-7 hours of vaping, depending on which voltage you use and whether you chain vape or not.

The finally good point about this battery is the price: $29.99 for it! That’s a pretty good price for a rechargeable electronic cigarette battery, particularly one with adjustable voltage and one that is easy to recharge. The battery is also lightweight and comes in a variety of colors to mix and match with the rest of your devices.

The eGo-C Twist is considered a standard ‘must have’ for many vapers now. It’s very affordable, looks nice, works well and lets you easily adjust your voltage, making it great for newcomers and veterans alike. It’s definitely worth a purchase if you’re vaping regularly. Enjoy!

Gi2 Mod By Grand Innovations Tested

  Gi2 Mod-1

The Gi2 Mod by Grand Innovations is a bit of an odd toy all things considered. It has a very futuristic appearance with a retro vibe, it is meant only for more tech savvy vapers and it acts more like a tiny computer in some respects than like a vaping device! Unlike the DNA-20s and DNA-30s, this little gadget looks nothing like a cigarette or a cigar, but more like some sort of snuff box, albeit a much more technical one! So what can you expect from this device and is it worth your time and money?

Here’s Looking at You, Kid

Gi2 Mod-2This is one impressive looking piece of tech. First of all, it’s a box mod, meaning that rather than shaped like a cigar, it’s shaped like a box! It features a touch screen which displays all manner of information related to your vaping experiences, from the wattage and voltage you have it set at to a second counter for your draw times. It even allows you to have one of six wallpapers that you can load onto a micro SD-chip and put on your device. And yes, this gadget does have a micro SD card chip!

The touch screen allows you to easily fiddle with a variety of settings. You can change up your wattage and voltage, check your battery life and keep track of your draws. You can also brighten the screen and do other fiddling to create a device that works best for you.

The Gi2 Mod takes two 18650 VTC-4 batteries and with these batteries and depending on your build, you can get some pretty impressive voltage. The system allows for up to 168 watts and is a super sub-Ohm system with a minimum of two watts of power. However, keeping mind that of course the more wattage you try to run, the shorter the battery life will be.

Finally, the Gi2 is compatible with many atomizers and tanks, making it easy to build the system the way you want it to go.

Problems With this System

The Gi2 Mod has some amazing gimmicks; the screen gives you a ton of information about your experience, it’s versatile and it’s incredibly powerful. However, it also has some problems:

  • The buttons, such as the firing button, are flat and small and it can be very hard to hit them!

  • The 510 connection is crooked so your things won’t fit flush. This can cause damage

  • This machine is very, very advanced which is pretty cool; however, it does create a slightly steep learning curve. Only tech savvy, veteran mod users will really enjoy this system as others might become frustrated with it. Treat it like a tiny, specialized computer to start with!

  • There is no USB port so you have to pop your batteries out in order to charge them

  • The micro SD chip can be hard to retrieve

  • There’s a half second delay between releasing the firing button and the actual device no longer firing which can waste vapor

  • A major system glitch exists too. It’s far too easy to lock the system so that you lock it while it’s firing which wastes a lot of vapor. The only way to stop it from doing this is to take the batteries out! This is dangerous and it can wreck your system. The creators have stated that this problem will be fixed in the next run.

  • Depending on the wattage you use, the battery life may be short or longer. The smaller wattage-30watts or less, can let your batteries stretch up to nine hours, but  a wattage of around 100 will shrink your battery life down to about an hour, hour and a half.

Gi2 Mod-3Finally we have the price tag which is at a whopping $320! Given that you get an impressive device, many vapers will consider the cost more than worth it. However, if you aren’t very experienced with mods or you just want something that will plug in and go, this will not be the device for you and the price tag will not be worth it. If you do decide to get this device, make sure to take the time to really explore it when you get it, experiment with it and really dig into it.

The Gi2 is an amazing mod and for those who really know what they’re doing, it’s fun to fiddle with to your heart’s content and really create an experience you will enjoy. However, if you’re not very tech savvy or mod savvy yet, it’s probably not a good idea to get one unless you just want a fancy trophy. With plenty of ways to modify your device and an elegant design, the Gi2 Mod is something that all serious, experience modders will want to try at least once. Enjoy!

Hana Modz V3 DNA 30 Review

The Hana Modz V3 DNA-30 is a flagship product for Hana Modz and with good reason; this product gives you some amazing perks and sleek looking device. DNA-30s are great because they give you up to 30 watts of power and you get a regulated battery which means that you get a consistent hit throughout the entire life of the battery, always a good thing! The Hana Modz has a DNA-30 chip from Evolve which is considered to be a very solid company for chips. So for those who enjoy mods and want a new DNA-30 for their build, is the Hana Modz right for you?

What You’re Going to be Looking At

Hana Modz V3-2The Hana Modz V3 DNA-30 is one of the newest devices on the market and uses a DNA-30 chip from Evolve to give you a consistent and powerful hit of vapor with every use. The device is portable and box shaped with a cherry red anodized finish. What’s nice about it is that its construction is such that you can screw other devices such as your atomizers flush with the pack. This is because the top has a well which you can use to screw in your new devices which means that no matter what you put in, it will look flush and clean! That’s always nice for people who want a beautiful and functional device.

This particular mod also features a small screen where you can see the battery life, voltage/wattage and resistance build. This screen can be put in stealth mode if you like and it has an auto-shut off feature whereby the screen turns itself after fifteen seconds of non-use, saving on battery life.

The inside of the mod is vey sleek too. You have the battery (18650 VTC-4) and then the circuitry is sealed behind a black space beside the battery so that it’s not visible and it’s safe from damage while you’re switching batteries around. Beautiful inside and out!

Pros and Cons

Hana Modz V3-1This mod has a number of benefits to it. First of all, it’s beautiful; the finish is gorgeous and the innards are sleek. The system has three buttons on the side: a fire button which has a definite ‘click’ and the power up and power down button. The system also has a USB port (and comes with a USB cord!) so you can easily charge your battery using your computer or another source. The screen is clear and shows precisely what you need and devices that are screwed to this one fit flush and smooth. It’s easy to pull the battery out; simply unscrew the back and slide the battery free.

The second thing is the battery life itself. This is a regulated battery device while means that you get a consistent hit every time you vape for the entirety of the battery’s life. If you vape above 1.0 ohms, you’re looking at a battery life of up to six hours, but for many vapers, the battery life will be about three to three and a half hours which isn’t bad at all. You can charge your battery in a couple of hours using your USB cord and you’re ready to go.

Finally, this system has a number of ‘smart’ features. First of all, it has an auto-power down feature which shuts the screen off after fifteen seconds of non-use, saving on your battery. The system also lets you know if the chip board is getting too hot and will shut itself off. And the chip will also warn you if you’re using the wrong kind of battery so that you can keep getting optimal settings from your vaping experience and so you don’t damage anything.

Hana Modz V3-3There are a couple of problems, but they aren’t too serious. The battery life is good, but if you enjoy vaping in sub-Ohm, you’re going to greatly shorten your battery life, sometimes to less than two hours which could be problematic. It’s not bad, but it is shorter. The other problem is with the battery itself; the software chip greatly outstrips it in terms of use which is why the battery life is going to be shorter. And finally, that gorgeous finish is easy to stain; if you drip something like your e-liquid on them, you can stain it. You can clean it with hot water and soap, but it’s an extra maintenance step.

And finally-and whether this is a problem or not is up to you-this is a somewhat expensive device. It sells for $256 which is rather high, but considering the device itself, it’s worth the cost for many vapers. You do get some amazing software in the device, a nice piece and a great vaping experience with a strong ‘kick’ and big clouds. For many users, this becomes their main vaping device making it well worth the cost.

If you’re looking for a great, day to day vaping mod, then the Hana Modz V3 DNA-30 may be just right for you. It’s a bit expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. Enjoy!

Stillare RDA by Cartel Mods Exposed

The Stillare RDA by Cartel Mods is an American made atomizer that is a duel coil system with fully adjustable air holes. It has many things about it which will make it highly appealing to vapers who enjoy building their own vaping devices and even the things which could be problematic are, by and large, easy to handle. So what should you know about this device before you go looking for one for yourself.

What You’re Looking at With that Device

Stillare RDA-1The Stillare RDA is composed of three parts: the top part where your drip tip goes, the main barrel where the adjustable air holes are and the bottom part which is where the connectors are. The top part has a recessed cup for the drip tip so everything fits flush and the barrel has two air holes; however, they are adjustable to the extent that you can go from two tiny holes to two large holes or you could have no holes at all! And the connector portion is great because the posts are gold plated, meaning you get a piece that is highly conductive. The high level of conductivity means that you get great vapor production and the gold means that it won’t corrode or be damaged as easily over time. The engravings on the device are very smooth and professional and the stainless steel finish resists fingerprints. All in all, it’s a very attractive device.

Benefits of the Stillare

There are many good things to say about this piece, some of them we’ve already seen, but it’s worth bringing them all together again:

  • Stillare RDA-2The brushed stainless steel finish resists fingerprints

  • The gold plated 510 connectors mean incredible conductivity and less damage over time

  • Great vapor production

  • Good flavor

  • Fully and easily adjustable air holes; all you have to do is twist the top portion until you get the two holes you want at the sizes you like

  • Larger chamber for greater vapor production

  • You can put in 22 gauge wires, 24, 26 or 28! The lower the gauge, the more dense the vapor will be

  • Everything sits nice and flush and is attractive

  • The O-ring at the deck fits nice and tight, meaning no leakage and it’s even hard to pull apart when you want to!

  • The three posts on the deck have holes for varying gauge wires and are very nice

And the price tag is pretty good too: $120.00 for something built on American soil with a high level of quality.

Problems with the Stillare

Stillare RDA-3While overall this is a very good device, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First of all, it is a duel hole device, not a single; it has no capability for that. Furthermore, it’s a dual coil device and you can’t make it single coil. This may or may not be a problem, but it is an oversight that could turn many people away. And secondly, the chamber is larger which means you get a cooler vape with less density. This can be addressed at least partially by using lower gauge wire, but you’re still not going to see thick billows of vapor; instead, you’ll see thinner billows!

Overall, the Stillare RDA is definitely worth the buy if you like vaping duel coil and you like easily adjustable air holes. The price tag is definitely right and you get a very high quality product for your cash. Enjoy!

Stillare RDA by Cartel Mods Exposed

The RTA Russian 91% Tested

The Russian 91% is a clone device of the SvoeMesto’s Kayfun Lite; a clone being a device which bears the logo of the company (in this case, Russian 91%) meaning that this company actually made it based on SvoeMesto’s design. It is an RTA which is used in conjunction with other devices, allowing you to create the build you want. What should you know about the Russian 91% and is it worth buying?

The Russian 91% versus the Kayfun Lite

The RTA Russian 91Rumor is that one of the workers at Kayfun Lite split the company and designed the Russian 91%, taking aspects from the Kayfun Lite that worked and splicing it with other things. Whether this is true or not doesn’t ultimately matter, but it does feel that way when you look at the device. It bears many of the same features as the Kayfun Lite, but with enough of a different twist in appearance and functionality to make a clone with a unique personality. If you like the Kayfun Lite, you’ll probably like the Russian 91% and you may even prefer the Russian slightly more.

The Russian 91% is made up of eight parts: three tank sections, a chimney section, the deck, a top portion and a drip tip with an adaptor to allow you to use whatever drip tip you want. The O-ring seals over the tank preventing leakage which is always nice. The entire kit also comes with extra O-rings, screws, the screwdriver and other bits.

The Russian 91% gives a very consistent vaping experience and while the vapor production isn’t quite as dense as other builds, it’s pretty close.

The RTA Russian 91-1

Benefits of the Russian 91%

The Russian 91% has a number of great benefits that make it stand out. It has a satin matte finish which gives it a very classical appearance and makes it resistant to fingerprints. It has clean and smooth threads that are easy to work with and it comes out of the box free from things like machine oil.

The RTA Russian 91-3Functionally speaking, the Russian 91% has many great benefits that make it stand out even beyond its ‘parent’. It has a great drip tip, but also has a drip tip adaptor so that you can use different drip tips if you prefer. This gives you some great flexibility in your devices. And unlike the Kayfun Lite, the Russian 91% has an adjustable air hole which means you can get great vapor production and flavor and control what kind of vaping experience you want to have! This makes it arguably better than the Kayfun Lite as it didn’t have this feature. All you have to do to adjust the air hole is either tighten or loosen the screw near the hole. If you tighten the screw, the draw is tightened and if you pull out the screw, the draw is loosened. It’s pretty easy to use.

A few other nice things: it comes with both a stainless steel and an acrylic tank. The 510 connection pin is adjustable too so the Russian can fit on other devices with ease.

Problems

There are a few issues with the Russian 91%; it’s not perfect! The screws on the deck are a bit small, meaning that thicker wires become a nuisance the thread. The air hole may cause leakages if you fill your tank up to a certain point until your liquid falls below that line, so you’ll want to fill it only to a certain point which is less than the maximum amount advertised. Experiment until you find a level that works for you. And finally, the satin matte finish doesn’t match with most other devices you screw to this one, so you won’t have a perfect finish! This may not bother everyone, but if you like everything to match perfectly, then it may bug you a little.

The RTA Russian 91% overall though is an excellent device. It’s highly flexible since you can choose one of two tanks, screw on all manner of drip tips and adjust your air holes! It’s also very affordable at less than $100.00 which is pretty good considering how much you get. If you’re looking for one of the best clones around, then the RTA Russian 91% is here to fill the role. Enjoy!

Panzer Black Hawk by MCV Reviewed

The Panzer Black Hawk by MCV is an offshoot of the MCV Panzer and a special edition offshoot at that. Named for heavy hitting German tanks, this mechanical mod features a powerful kick of vapor, good cloud production and a very sleek, one of a kind appearance. So is this one to add to your mechanical mod collection?

Panzer Black Hawk

The Mod

Like its mainstream counterpart, the Panzer Black Hawk is made from stainless steel; it’s fairly large and heavy and has a brass ring and firing button. The big difference in appearance is the black oxide coating to make it look extra cool, though keep in mind that this means the coating will oxidize quickly and it won’t always look always look so cool the more you use it. Otherwise, it looks basically identical to the Panzer, right down to the four vent holes, very smooth threads and the ease of keeping pieces flush together.

Panzer Black HawkLike the Panzer, this piece is made with five smaller pieces: a top piece with the logo and a copper adjustable pin that allows you use different batteries without worrying about too much rattling. The black oxide coating comes off more quickly on the threads though, so watch for that. Then of course there is the main battery tube and the bottom piece with the firing pin which locks in place by turning it to the right and unlocks by turning to the left. The other two pieces are there to let you use the Black Hawk in a variety of different modes. For the 18350, you only need the three main pieces, but for the 18500 and 18650, you’ll want to use the other pieces to give your battery more space.

For the OCD vapers in the room, the logo and the Black Hawk name won’t line up in the 18350 and 18500 mode due to the pieces. Eh.

So there’s what you’ll be looking at when you get your piece. Actually using it is another matter.

Kicks Like A Mule… and Like a Mule, Gets Bored Easily

Panzer Black HawkThe Black Hawk has the same kick as the Panzer; a pretty unbelievable one! It creates very large clouds of vapor and it can be further modded to work in one of three modes: 18350, 18500 and 18650, depending on which battery you prefer. The firing button is also immediate: you push it, you get vapor!

Unfortunately, it may be powerful, but the power doesn’t necessarily last long. With regulated batteries and systems, you’re looking at a battery power drop off as soon as forty five to ninety minutes. So if you’re look for consistently strong kick, you better keep a good stock of batteries!

Getting One of Your Very Own

Panzer Black HawkThe Black Hawk is something of a limited, special edition piece and as such it may be difficult to find and furthermore, it’s pricey-between $249 and $299 (and possibly more), depending on where you get it. However, you do get something which is very well designed, gorgeous and gives a powerful kick, though do watch that black oxide coating as it erodes swiftly, particularly on the threads.

For those who love mechanical mods and particularly love special edition pieces, the Black Hawk may be just what you’re looking for. It has Panzer’s kick and attention to detail when it comes to modifying it further, but it’s jet black with the hawk engraved on the firing button. It’s a gorgeous piece with a solid kick to it and a solid build that will last a long time, even with the matte black oxide coating. Enjoy!
